I know that when I last wrote, I promised some final thoughts about our trip and have not yet delivered on that promise. Throwing myself right back into my normal daily life upon my return, I realized just how busy my "normal" life is.
Monday was a whirlwind of a day. Going back to work and getting settled in again, catching up with people I hadn't spoken with the whole time I was gone, and just dealing with sitting at a desk for 8 hours again was exhausting. After my day at work, I got home to the girls who kept bugging me to take them for a ride. Nearly every time I went anywhere near the door to the garage, they would jump up and run to the door. We were all so used to our daily travels that it felt strange to stay in one place!
Tuesday was another busy day. A full day of work, a dentist appointment, and a vet appointment for Imke, followed by several errands. I really needed things like groceries so that we could get back to a normal routine again. Imke loved her trip to the vet, as usual, and she was happy to be out for some one on one time with mom.
Wednesday found me back at my regular volunteer schedule at the animal shelter. It was nice to get back to the shelter dogs and to get them out for their much needed time away from the shelter. I always love my time there. The dogs are always so happy to be out of the shelter and I get to spend time loving them all and taking their pictures. Just look at those happy faces!
It is now Thursday and things have started to feel a little more normal, but boy do I miss being on the road! And the lake. I haven't had much down time this week to just reflect on our trip. I promise I still have some final thoughts, but those will have to wait for a day or two.
I'm ready for the weekend and a little quiet time at home, and, of course, we have a little fun planned for this weekend as well. After a long, busy week at home, we all need a little fun and adventure!
