Welcome May

We arrived home from vacation to cooler, rainy weather on Monday.   I guess that isn't so bad, after all, it should making returning to work a little easier than if the weather were nice.

Peaches and Mina both had enough adventures during our week off to hold them over on Monday, and I somehow got settled back into my workday without too much pain.

The weather was rainy most of the day, and after a long, exhausting first day back at work, I decided we had earned a lazy Monday evening.

The weather was not much better on Tuesday, but it did clear up enough for us to get out for an after work walk around the neighborhood.

Wednesday I got the girls out for a lunchtime walk because I knew I'd be busy with dog walking at the shelter after work.

During dog walking club we walked four really nice dogs, including Strecker who is pictured above.   He was a sweet puppy who found a home this week.  We had a really nice walk with some awesome dogs and enjoyed the beautiful Spring evening.

I was able to get the girls out for another's walk after a I got home and then we all settled in for a quiet evening.

Thursday morning Mina had her final Canine Good Citizen class before her test next week.  We got to spend some time outside practicing while one of the other dogs in class took her test early.  Mina is doing really well in class and I am hopeful that she will pass her test without issues.  Even if she doesn't pass, I'm proud of the progress she has made.

Thursday night we joined a May the 4th geocaching event at Washington Park. The girls were happy to join the fun and see some other geocaching friends

.After the event we took a walk around the neighborhood near the park for a little change of pace.  It was a lovely night for a walk.

When we got home I had to take some pictures of my own Weeping Cherry tree in bloom. It's so pretty right now.

Work went well on Friday with the girls happily napping away for much of the day.

By the end of the work day, I was ready for a break and Mina was happy to climb into my lap to snuggle for a while.

But I knew we all needed to get in some steps for the day, so I eventually loaded the girls into the car and headed to campus to enjoy a nice Spring walk.

Even though it is graduation weekend, we were able to avoid the crowds and enjoy the beauty of Spring along the Red Cedar River.

Honestly this is the prettiest time of year on campus and I always enjoy my walks there in the Spring.  I'm excited to go back again during the week now that it will be even quieter with the students gone for the Summer.

Peaches loved the grass more than usual and any time I stopped she could be found rolling in it.

Amazingly I was able to get one good picture at Beaumont Tower before she dropped to roll in the grass.

The sun over the river was extra pretty too.

By the time we neared the end of our walk, the girls decided to cooperate a little for some pictures.

The squirrels were out in force and driving Mina crazy, but she still did pretty well staying nicely for the most part.

On Saturday we headed out for an adventure through the countryside West of Lansing.  Our adventures started with a walk and some geocaching in Portland.

We then head North a bit and cached our way around Pewamo and Hubbardston.

Mina wasn't happy she didn't get to get out of the car at every stop.

We did get in a couple of nice walks and enjoyed picking up some more caches.  By the time we started our journey home, the rain had started.  So the girls happily settled in for the ride home.

And we made it home just in time to watch the Kentucky Derby.  Overall we had a great day!

We are expecting Thunderstorms and rain for our Sunday and I'll be making an early Sunday visit to see Nicol, Tyler, and Fiona.  Hopefully it is a restful day so I can be ready to start the work week again.

Happy Sunday to you all and I hope you have a wonderful week!
