Fall Color season is here

I can't believe we're already two-thirds of the way through the month of October.  It is just crazy how fast this year has gone, and November will be here before we know it.

Despite an exhausting week at work and the gray, rainy Fall weather we had this week, I tried my best to get the girls out for some Fall fun.

After work on Monday, I took the girls to REO Town for our evening walk.  We had a great walk and actually walked in some new areas that we hadn't walked before which gave me the opportunity to explore some of the local history.   It is always so interesting to think about how different things were in the past.  I loved learning about some of the history of the area.

After our walk we had a quick dinner and then we headed out to Williamston to check out the Halloween Light dislplay at Wamoff Farms.

This dislplay used to be at a local home, but has been moved indoors and is being called the Haunted Mermaid display. I figured it was worth a stop.  There was cider and bowls of candy with spooky music along with the lighted display.  Nothing spooky here, but it was a quick, fun visit.

Tuesday was rainy and after getting out of work late, I knew the best option for getting the girls out would be to make a drive to the dog park.  Somehow the color is suddenly progessing really quickly here.  I thought the color along our drive was very pretty so I had to stop for a picture.

We reached the dog park not much before sunset, but there were still several other dogs there and others showed up before we left.  All of these doggy friends kept both girls busy and they had a great time. By the time we left it was dark.

Wednesday was a beautiful day.  The sunshine was a welcome sight after all of the gray days we've been having.  The girls spent most of the day outside while I worked another long and exhausting day.

I brought the girls along for the drive out to the shelter for Wednesday night dog walking club and I was able to get them out for a walk before heading into the shelter to prepare for the dog walk.

I had a great walk with Frank-n-Furter.  He was such a nice boy.

Thursday the rain was back.  When she's stuck inside, Mina has decided that my lap is the best place to be on a rainy day.

After work Thursday, we headed out to visit the final South Lansing Farmer's Market for the year.  I got some good deals on some veggies, bought some duck eggs and baked goods, and even got dinner while we were there.  Mina wasn't too thrilled about waiting in the rain for my dinner.  I'm going to miss our weekly visits to the market.

Friday i had to make the drive to Okemos at the end of my workday which gave us an opportunity to get out for a walk at Nancy Moore Park.

Luckily there was a break in the rain so we could get in a nice walk.  The Fall colors are really looking good here.

I couldn't get enough of all of the pretty oranges.  Orange is definitely my favorite color of Fall.

Near the end of our walk, I was happy that the girls cooperated with me to get this picture.   I love this picture of them.

After our walk we made a stop a Pet Supplies Plus.  Mina was not happy with me for putting this lion's mane on her, but I thought she was pretty cute.  We also made a stop at Soldan's for a quick visit before making a rainy drive home.  I was so happy that the rain had held off for our little Friday evening fun.

I woke up Saturday with stomach issues.  We had plans for some fun that afternoon, but the weather forecast wasn't promising and I wasn't feeling up to much so we canceled our plans for the afternoon.  But I knew I still needed to get the girls out before the rain, so we headed to the dog park.

Mina made friends with an adorable little girl who wanted nothing more than to throw the ball for her.  With all of her new friends, she stayed busy for over an hour.

On the drive home, we made a stop for a quick walk.  I knew the girls would appreciate a little time in the woods.

And before getting back in the car, I made them pose for a picture with the fire-breathing Panther at Dewitt High School.

After our walk we got in the car to head home, but I decided to make one more stop along the way.

Our original plans for Saturday afternoon had included the Tails and Treats event at Capital Area Humane Society, but the trick or treating with dogs had been canceled due to the rain.  The rest of the event moved forward as planned though, and the Tin Cup food truck was there selling pup cups to help raise money for the Humane Society so I stopped to get the girls each a pup cup as a special treat.

It had been a successful outing and I was glad to get home with two happy and tired pups so that I could relax the rest of the day.  Apparently our outing had done the trick because they slept away the rest of the day and I got the peaceful day I needed.

I woke up Sunday feeling much better.  Since I hadn't accomplished anything I had planned for Saturday morning, I spent Sunday morning taking care of all of those chores and running a few errands.

The girls were happy to be able to spend some time out in the yard lounging in the sun while I was busy inside.

When I finally finished everything I had wanted to get done for the day at home, I decided to take advantage of the beautiful sunny day.  We headed out to Fenner Nature Center for the Apple butter Festival.

We checked out some of the activities and enjoyed a beautiful walk in the woods.  The gjrls were enjoying all of the new smells and Mina even found some apples for a snack.

What a gorgeous afternoon to be outside.  All of the Sugar Maples are a glorious shade of yellow.  We had such a nice time and I was so glad I had made the decision to go.

Once we got home, the girls spent time outside playing while I cooked  dinner and then we all enjoyed our dinner and settled in for the evening.

Over the last week, the color in Lansing has really moved along and we're definitely getting close to peak colors in some areas.  I'm hoping to get out with the girls to enjoy it before the leaves fall.

I have a busy week ahead at work, but I'm also looking forward to lots of Halloween themed fun over the next nine days. I am especially looking forward to some of our favorite Halloween traditions.

I hope you all have a great week!
