Our week started off slowly and uneventful.
Monday's only adventure was a lunchtime visit to Soldan Dog Park where I didn't take one picture, but had the best time.
Tuesday we had a rainy evening, but after a busy day at work, I needed to get the girls out of the house. We got in the car to take a drive, and when we drove by a nearly empty Dewitt Dog Park, I decided to make a stop. The park reopened for the season on Monday, so it was nice to stop for a good run. Mina played several rounds of fetch, ran at top speed, and tried some of the new agility equipment. Peaches spent her whole visit sniffing every inch of the ground. It was such a nice visit.
Wednesday morning was crazy busy at work, so a nice walk on my late lunch was very much needed. We spent some time exploring Delta Mills Park hoping to get out before the impending storms. The sky was dark behind us, but we never even felt one sprinkle. It was a really nice walk in the sunshine.
Luckily the rain held off for our Wednesday night shelter dog walk too. We were able to get four dogs out for a walk...three of them these 8 month shepherd mix sibling puppies. It was such a fun walk! I can't believe these three are still available for adoption.
After the shelter dog walk, I had time to take the girls for a quick trip to Soldan Dog Park for a nice run to end our evening. It was a beautiful cool Spring evening and I found evidence that the Spring flowers are coming. So exciting!
After work Thursday, I made the drive to Birch Run for Brezlyn's first softball game of the seasons. I was glad that the girls could join me as I watched the game. It was chilly so we did some laps around the field to stay warm. Mostly we stood behind the umpire so we could have the best view of Brezlyn pitching.
Unfortunately Chesaning lost the game 6-2, but I was glad I was able to be there.
After the game, I was able to stop for a visit with my dad on the way home. He was in great spirits and looking great. We had a really nice visit.
Peaches apparently had an exhausting evening!
At the end of my workday on Friday, it was clear that the girls were ready for some fun. Just look at the look Peaches was giving me.
After a stop for dinner, we drove out to Dewitt for a walk at the Padgett Natural Area. This was a new area for us to explore.
While most of the paths were paved, we were able to get out onto some dirt paths too. The girls loved their time in the woods.
The sunshine, blue skies, and birds chirping made for a nice time.
It was a great start to our weekend despite the tick I found crawling on me. That's my second tick of the season vs none on the girls yet. Ugh, I hate ticks!
Saturday I was happy to start my day with a shelter dog walk. I haven't been holding regular Saturday morning dog walks, so it was nice to be able to start my day that way.
We walked four awesome dogs. These boys were both so nice.
After walking the shelter dogs, I headed out with the girls for a trip to Hillsdale to join a group hike on the NCT there.
This was the Chief Baw Beese Chapter's 4th annual Brewery to Brewery hike between Jonesville and Hillsdale.
It was such a nice day to be out for a hike along the Baw Beese Trail. The weather was perfect! We ended the day with 6.4 miles on the trail.
We met a really nice couple who are also GSP owners and had a great time hiking with them. When we got to Hillsdale Brewing Co., I decided we'd stay and have a late lunch with the group. It was so much fun and the food was excellent. The girls had a great time too.
By the end of the day, I had walked a total of 9 miles. The girls and I took a slow drive home picking up some geocaches along the way. It was just after sunset by the time we arrived home. It had been a long day, but we had so much fun. It was a great way to spend our Saturday.
While I debated how to spend our Sunday, and thought I might try to stay home, I ended up deciding to make a visit to my dad. After a quiet morning at home, we made the drive East to the rehab facility. I had a nice visit with my dad and we watched the NCAA Women's Basketball Championship game together. As I was getting ready to leave, my nephew Mason showed up for a visit, so I stayed a bit longer to visit with him too.
Finally, I left my dad so I could get the girls out for a walk. I had found the Birch Run Community Park nearby and thought it looked like the perfect spot for a walk. We had a nice 3 mile walk on the paved trails and picked up a few geocaches while we were there. It was a nice little park and we all enjoyed our visit.
The day didn't go at all like I thought it would, and we got home a lot later than I had originally planned. Not exactly the Sunday I had hoped for, but still it was a good day. Maybe next weekend we'll take a rest day.
Here's to hoping for an uneventful week ahead! I hope you all have a great week.
