Local adventures and a little mom and Maddie time

Last week we had a really great time continuing to enjoy our beautiful Michigan Summer.  It's continued to be hot and humid, and while that makes longer adventures more difficult, especially with Maddie, we aren't letting that stop us from getting out and making the most of our time together.

Last Monday,  we made a trip out to our friends at Patterson Veterinary Hospital for the fifth of Maddie's initial six weekly Adequan injections.  The previous two weeks we had brought Peaches along and then spent some time on different sections of the Hayhoe Trail after the appointment.  This week I decided to leave Peaches home and spend a little one on one time with Maddie.

We were done and on our way quickly and I'm not sure much else could have made Maddie any happier than getting out of that place!  Since she was such a good girl and has been a trooper on her weekly visits, I decided to head to another section of the Hayhoe trail for a bit of  a walk.  With air that felt as thick as soup due to the humidity, we didn't get very far, but it sure was nice to take a quiet and leisurely stroll with my sweet old girl.  My walks with her when it's just the two of us have become extra special to me and I so enjoyed this little bit of time with her.

Tuesday night the girls and I headed out not long before sunset for a nice walk and some geocaching at Moore's Park.  It had been a long day and a nice walk was just what I needed.  As we were returning to the Jeep at the end of our walk, I was able to capture a couple of pictures which have quickly become some of my all time favorites.

There is just something extra special about the sun setting over water...and it's even better with a dog!

Wednesday evening started out as it typically does with me at the Shelter for our Wednesday night Dog Walking Club.  But I was excited to have some big plans after dog walking- a fun night at the Dog Days of Summer at Cooley Law School Stadium.

The Lansing Lugnuts have done dog friendly events for years, and I would occasionally take Imke to a game with me.  But I had never taken Maddie and I was really excited to share this experience with her.

It was her first game and she was such a good girl.  She made lots of friends of both the two- and four-legged variety, we walked several laps around the stadium, we enjoyed some time in the lawn, and we shared some nachos.

I received  so many compliments on what a good girl she was and I don't think I could have been any more proud of her.  It was such a good night and I really loved my mom and Maddie time.  I'm hoping to have more opportunities for some  quality one one one time with her again soon!

Friday night  we kicked off our Summer vacation at home with a walk at a park we had never been to before.   It was humid and a storm was moving our way, so we had a quick walk before heading toward home for the night.

We also enjoyed a walk around downtown and a stop at our favorite Mexican restaurant  over the weekend.  Sometimes a few days close to home with nothing much to do is just what you need to relax and recharge.

Peaches has that relaxing thing down to a science!

We've been busy over the last few days enjoying a little time off from work and no real obligations.  I'll share more of our adventures closer to home with you later this week. We've got lots to share, but for now I'll say good night.
