Tracy Arm Fjord and the Sawyer Glacier

Friday we left the dogs behind and took a tour of the Tracy Arm Fjord and both Sawyer Glacier and South Sawyer Glacier.  We saw whales, harbor seals, sea lions, and black bears and lots of unique birds. Our crew of James, Joel and John, were amazing and made the trip even better.

This was the one day of our trip the promised sunshine, no rain, and temperatures near 70 degrees.  What a perfect day to spend out on a boat!

Although there was a nice warm cabin with big windows to sit inside and enjoy the trip, Nicol and I were determined to sit outside on the front of the boat to take in the whole experience.  On the way out, the wind was in our face and boy was it cold!  But we were brave, or crazy, and stayed out there for the best views and the best opportunity to see wildlife.  And we weren't disappointed!

After a long trip out, we finally reached the glaciers where we also saw the harbor seal and lots of icebergs with beautiful blue ice.

At this point we headed in to the boat and sat up front with the captain and enjoyed the view while we warmed up and ate lunch.

Soon we were heading back out for the long ride back to Juneau.  But there were still things to see along the way.  Lucky for us, the wind was at our back so the ride back was a bit warmer.

Soon we were heading back into Juneau Harbor and our amazing tour was coming to an end.

This was an amazing trip that I would highly recommend to anyone who comes to Juneau...but be sure to dress warmly, no matter what the weather!

I think that someone was very happy with her tour choice.  Another successful day of adventures in Juneau!
